What you’ll do

Kanazawa is home to centuries of preserved history – you could never see all of its top attractions in just one day, but what you could do is explore the heart of the city, and tick 10 of them off your bucket list! Higashi Chaya, the city’s famous geisha district, is a must-see, but Nichi Chaya in the south has a rich geisha tradition and some hidden gems of its own, like rakugan – Kanazawa’s pretty, pastel-colored sweets – and a geisha training ground. You’ll see iconic symbols of Japan’s historic heart, like the stately Kanazawa Castle, Omicho Market, and Kenroku-en Garden (one of Japan’s Three Great Gardens), but you’ll also explore the city’s contemporary side in Katamachi, a lively downtown district lined with trendy shops, cool cafes, restaurants, and bars.

    Roffy did a great job of showing the highlights of Le Marais neighborhood in our 2-hr tour. She showed and explained the history, culture, points of interest and best restaurants in the area. I’ve always wanted to get to know the neighborhoods of Paris a little better and this tour was perfect for that. I’m looking forward to the other neighborhood tours they offer.

    We booked Patrick Johnson for a 3 hour walking tour of the city. It was our first day and we wanted an orientation of the city. Patrick delivered that and more. It was a nice combination of history, storytelling, and recommendations of pubs, restaurants, and things to do. He even had recommendations for things to do outside of Dublin in other cities we were visiting. Great way to start our trip.
