Sailing through a sea of petals Cherry trees and an ocean breeze Forests, gardens, and rivers
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
During the cherry blossom season, Yokohama transforms into something from a fairytale. Seaside promenades become blanketed in petals as thousands of sakura trees burst into bloom. The promise of new beginnings is breathed into the city as locals celebrate at hanami (cherry blossom viewing) parties.
You might lay out a picnic of exciting snacks from an unassuming konbini convenience store on the lawns of Negishi Forest Park, or maybe you’ll join the crowds at stunning Sankeien. This tranquil Japanese-style garden houses several historic buildings across Japan and 300 trees. Or, if you’re keen to move away from the busy city center, over 1000 trees await a train ride away at Mitsuike Park, one of Japan’s top hanami locations.

Show moreMadoka, our fabulous guide in Yokohama, feels like a new friend. We had a wonderful exchange of cultures, educational practices & travel stories. She was as interested in our lives as we were in hers. Using the train, metro & 16k steps later we made the most of our time together. We highly recommend Madoka & give her a five star plus rating! Experiences such as this is why we travel.
Show moreMadoka provided us with a wonderful overview of beautiful Yokohama. We traveled 16k steps by foot AND used both the train & subway system. We highly recommend that you allow Madoka to tailor your tour time together to meet your needs. Madoka feels like a new friend!

Show moreBefore we met Hiroko emailed some additional questions to better understand our interests and objectives for the day. We mentioned I was experiencing some mobility issues, for which she adapted the itinerary. When we met in person, we confirmed a strategy and were able to accomplish everything we intended within my limitations. Since we were planning to use public transit during our stay, she helped us purchase the correct transit cards. Since it was our first time in Japan, she offered a quick history of Japan and its culture; along with lots of other tidbits too numerous to list. She matched her pace to ours. It was a perfect day for us. We would certainly use her services again, and enthusiastically recommend her to others.
