Welcome to Kuala Lumpur, often described as a big melting pot where different cultures mix. We certainly found that to be true. Expect to be amazed by the beautiful cityscape featuring many tall buildings that sparkle in the morning sun. It is truly stunning to see! But it’s not just about the cityscape. You can find all sorts of delicious food here, from spicy noodles to sweet desserts. Expect to come across plentiful, colorful markets, ancient temples, and so much more, but we don’t want to give it all away before you even get there!
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at one of our favorite restaurants, Restoran Nasi Kandar Pelita. It’s a popular location, so rely on your host! You will enjoy a scrumptious roti canai served with either kopi or te tarik (If you don’t know what that is, trust us; it’s definitely a dish we would recommend over and over again!). A great way to start the day and this experience.
So now that your tummy has stopped rumbling and you’re all fueled up, you’ll embark on a short walk with your host to the base of the Petronas Twin Towers, where you can grab the perfect Instagrammable shot. But don’t just stop to take pictures; take the time to truly appreciate the grandeur and complexity of the architectural structure. Honestly, we were amazed by how the tower's facade creates this futuristic look and feel!
Now it's to the train! You’ll board the MRT and enjoy a quick train ride to one of Malaysia’s most significant historical landmarks, Merdeka Square. Here, your host will take the time to explain and help you understand just how important and significant this building is. While you’re here, take a moment to discover the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. We can’t describe just how beautiful this building is; you have to see it for yourself!
But your exploration doesn't stop there; you and your host will wander down to one of our favorite hidden gems in Kuala Lumpur. Be prepared to be amazed as you seem to stumble across a hidden alleyway that was once dingy and probably dodgy but has gone through a major transformation. It now features colorful and interactive displays, murals, and artwork. I’m sure your host will share the tales of transformation and Old Chinatown as you wander down this alleyway. We absolutely love the lively and happy atmosphere here, and we’re pretty sure you will, too!
As the morning winds down, you’ll retreat to the cozy Old China Cafe, a cute Cafe that we feel serves the best traditional Malay and Chinese food. Be sure to try the Nonya rendang chicken or Nonya curry laksa served with soursop juice while you’re there! Let us know what you think.
We truly hope that this experience we have created truly captures the essence of Kuala Lumpur, almost as though you were a local. Your host will have taken you to places you wouldn’t normally visit, and we hope this has perhaps inspired you to take another trip.
