Enjoyed shopping for lunch at the food hall. Aya explained what all the food items were. We really enjoyed our picnic - all the different dishes were amazing. Aya was happy to take photos for us at all the different spots that we visited. Aya is definitely a people person and is the right person for the job.

Aya was very knowledgeable, and has the perfect personality for a tour guide. She happily took photos of us at all the stops. We absolutely loved being taken to the food hall to choose our lunch, quite an experience. Aya explained what all the dishes were and each dish was delicious when we later had our picnic. I couldn’t praise Aya and this tour any higher. The highlight of our trip. Thank you so much Aya.

We really enjoyed all the sights around Harajuku and Asakusa! It was a wonderful blend of modern and traditional. Ayaka was a great guide who supplied us with tons of information, and also offered to help us take pictures and gave great suggestions.

We had to do our food tour at an unconventional time due to scheduling issues on our part, but Mari made it work so well. She took us to an area of Tokyo we would have never discovered on our own and we really did feel like we were dining where the locals go. She picked excellent places and was very attentive to our family. Then she took extra time to show us around Shibuya. We are so grateful for her time with us.

Her English was excellent, we told her what we were interested in and she took us to all the places we wanted to see.

Mari was so lovely and funny! We loved spending time with her. As a tour guide, she let us customise the tour to our liking, and took us places we never would have thought to go on our own! This is one of the best tours I’ve ever been on.

Anyone visiting Tokyo for the first time should definitely sign up for this tour - it is worth every yen! Our tour guide was Nobu who took the time well in advance of our trip to learn more about us and what we hoped to experience during the tour. Since we had a few other walking tours scheduled for the week, he was able to offer some other sights that filled in some of the holes in our itinerary. Since it was our first time in Tokyo/Japan, Nobu met us at our hotel, taught us some essential basics about etiquette and culture. He then showed us how to use the subway successfully (be sure to ask your guide to help you with this!). We did our tour on a rainy day, and at one point my umbrella broke and he had a spare on hand. Nobu took us to the Imperial Palace, the Fish Market, the oldest department store in Tokyo and the National Gardens to see the start of the cherry blossoms. At every step of the way, Nobu explained to us the history and culture that is important to the Japanese. Through the fish market, Nobu pointed out special delicacies to eat and helped us order the food. We tried new items that we would not have known to try. Amazing! Don't miss the fish market. In the department store, he showed us so items that would make nice special gifts for people instead of the touristy stuff. He took pictures of us along the way. Nobu also made recommendations for us to consider doing during our time in Tokyo. Consider yourself lucky if you get Nobu as your guide - he really made our first day in Tokyo so memorable!

Nobu was wonderful. My husband had a bad knee and had to walk slow. Nobu was very conscientious of this, looked for elevators and escalators wherever possible. At one point he saw a person who was visually impaired who needed help and asked us if it was ok to assist them. What a wonderful young man. He gave us many wonderful recommendations for places to eat and see for the rest of our time in Tokyo. Highly recommend. 5 star service!!

Patrick knew his stuff and crafted an excellent day for us. He was flexible and tuned in to the sort of thing we enjoyed.

Our tour with Patrick exceeded our expectations. Rather than hit tourist traps, we wandered through neighborhoods, shrines, parks, cemeteries and even a market. It was delightful and authentic. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared pieces of history along the way. Patrick was kind and patient. He helped us understand the complicated train process and taught us basic navigation skills that assisted us throughout our trip. I highly recommend the private Tokyo tour if you want to experience things at your own pace and off the beaten path. Thanks!

This was a great way to experience Tokyo when we had limited time and wanted to ensure we hit a proper structured taste of this iconic system We were introduced to Patrick as our guide in advance of our travels and once we had exchanged numbers he was very communicative and helped us out with some more general Japan queries prior to our trip. We were only in Tokyo for a day and a half so opted to take 2 separate 3 hour tours. The first was in the early evening immediately after our arrival. We had come from Osaka so no jet leg issues and we were met at our hotel reception in Shinkuja so we could immediately commence our explore of the lively scenes in Shinjuka and Shibuya as day turned to night. We had been in dialogue beforehand and completed the questionnaire around the sorts of things we were interested in so the tour could be tailored to our particular needs which was very effective. Patrick was full of insights and took us to quirky streets off the beaten path as well as the touristy must sees. A brilliant intro to the city. We bade him farewell as the first tour concluded and we had our own time to continue to enjoy the Japanese nightlife We reconvened the following morning with simple instructions on how to travel to meet him on the other side of the city in Yanaka. Public transport was fantastic. We then commenced part 2 with really interesting insights to the history, culture, religions, architecture and food of this fascinating country as we visited shrines and temples, open spaces and some of the must see tourist spots in Asakusa Patrick was great company and I would recommend him and City Unscripted to other travellers visiting without hesitation

I had a 10 hour layover at NRT and wanted to get some air and see a bit of Tokyo. Logistically, after the hour it took to go through immigration and customs and the 1.5 hour train ride into Tokyo, a 3-hour tour was the max amount of time that I had, and Lauren helped me to make the most of that! We covered about 4 miles on foot, visiting sites as divergent as the Meiji Shrine (where we saw a wedding) and the crazy Takeshita Street. With such limited time it was invaluable to have Lauren’s expert guidance not only about history and culture but also knowing which bathrooms are clean (and have soap!) and where to get a good iced coffee. This private tour was SO worth it - way better than 10 hours in Narita or trying to navigate for myself. Highly recommend especially with Lauren!

Lauren worked with me to put together a diverse experience and we were able to pivot on the fly to accommodate my schedule. Not only was she knowledgeable about the history and culture, but she also knew all the things to see in the small area of Tokyo that we were able to cover (including where to find good coffee and clean toilets!). Honestly I can’t imagine trying to do this on my own. I highly recommend Lauren and booking a short private tour if you’re tight on time.

Really good tour that was customised to suit everyone in our group. Kenji was very knowledgeable and even helped us negotiate our way around the train system. The tour gave us lots of ideas where we would like to explore further.

I had a wonder time with Amir on a solo tour. He was as accommodating as could be, starting with picking me up at my hotel and explaining how to use the train and subway system during the rest of my stay in Tokyo. At my request, we started off my sight-seeing in Yanaka, which is one of the oldest parts of the city. The pedestrian streets were wonderful and I was impressed with how Amir knew all the little shops and alleys and even showed me his favorite hidden gem of a place for coffee. I was lucky enough to be in Tokyo for Sakura, the peak time for cherry blossoms. Amir knew the best spots to see them without being overwhelmed by too many tourists trying to see them at the same time. Although Amir is not born and bred Japanese, he is married to a Japanese woman and understands the culture very well. We chattered so much about all sorts of topics during my tour that by the end I felt I had not only learned a great deal about Japan but also had gained a new friend.

Emir was an awesome tour guide! I came here on a solo trip with nothing planned at all, I decided to book a personal tour guide on Trip Advisor and it was one of the best things I've done to kick start the trip! Amir was a wealth of knowledge, having lived here for numerous years, showed me lots of 'hidden gem's' I would never of found on my own and he was one of the nicest person I've ever met! I thoroughly enjoyed my tour around Tokyo... I'd book again without hesitation!

Two days ago, we went on a walking city tour with Chiara. Despite the heavy rain, she made the experience truly exceptional. We managed to complete our list of things we wanted to see and even added some suggestions from Chiara along the way. She is professional, fun, and an all-around wonderful person. Book a day tour with her now; you won’t regret it.

A great mix of main attractions and places we would not have ever known about. Our guide Chiara checked in with me several times to tailor our tour for us and she made good use of our limited time with her. We ended the day in a very good local restaurant recommended by her.

Chiara Mischke met us at our hotel and it was pouring rain. We made the best of it, and were able to do everything on our list, and mush more. She geared our day around our interests and added some cool things along the way. I highly recommend having Chiara as your tour guide; you won't be disappointed!

Chiara checked in several times with us to customise our tour. She was very informative and made good use of the time we had with her showing us some of the main attractions in Tokyo and some places we would have never seen on our own. And she gave us a great dinner recommendation to end our day.

Marek was so helpful, informative, and easy to talk to. This tour was a fantastic way to spend our first day in Tokyo. We covered a lot of ground, learned how to navigate the subway lines, and experienced things we would never have done on our own. Highly recommend!

Steven is a fun guy. We went to a really cool same bar and learned quite a bit about this Japanese rice wine. Then Steven treated us to a fantastic dinner at a local spot. We tried many dishes and each was great. Steven is a n interesting guy who did everything possible to show us a great time.

We enjoyed Steven’s company and his wide knowledge of Japanese food and culture. The restaurants he took us to were hidden gems we never would have found on our own.

Had a great time with Steven, our guide for a late afternoon stroll, in Tokyo. I was traveling with elderly parents and it was super helpful to be shown around at an easy pace. It's unlikely we would've seen as much on our own. Cherry on top was Steven helping us navigate Shinjuku station to get our train tickets for the following day and then calling up an izakaya we were visiting later to explain a few dietary restrictions!

From the beginning, we had great communication with Steven our guide. He was very personable and we chatted like old friends over a meal. the food was great & Steven took the time to explain the foods & what region they were from and Japanese customs . Highly recommended

Our guide was just wonderful from picking us up at our hotel to taking us to an otter petting cafe Leon was all we could wish for in a guide. He was kind, considerate and generous with his time and knowledge.
