What you’ll do

So you’ve landed at Vancouver International Airport and have quite a long layover, so why not feed that curiosity and step out of the airport to experience Vancouver like a local in just 6 hours? Or, you’ve got some hours to kill and want a great experience in a short time. Either way, this is for you.

I’ve created this experience based on all the places I consider a highlight in Vancouver and those that have captured my heart and I hope it does yours as well!

Your journey begins with a quick jaunt on the speedy train heading to Waterfront station. Here, you will exit the station with your amazing local host who will guide you towards the historical Gastown.

As you make your way down to Gastown, you will stop by the Vancouver Lookout, a local gem offering the best 360° views of the city. As you soar 553 feet up in the glass elevator, your host will share some fascinating insights into Vancouver's history. Keep an eye out, you might even spot some whales in the distance!

Speaking of hidden gems, nestled in Gastown is the famous Steam Clock. Did you know it's one of the only remaining steam clocks in the world? A perfect Instagram moment awaits!

Feeling peckish? Your local host will take you to the Old Spaghetti Factory, a cozy Italian restaurant that's one of my personal favorites. What I really love about this restaurant is how you can even dine inside a real train car for a unique experience!

Ready for a sweet treat? Don’t have dessert here, I want you to try somewhere else.

You can't miss Vancouver's famous coffee and baked goods at Nemesis Coffee. Fun fact: one of my friends used to work here, and their croissants are legendary!

Just a short stroll away, you’ll find the Vancouver Public Library, famous for being a movie and TV show filming location. Your host will tell you all about this. Wander through its halls and marvel at the striking architecture. Your host will guide you to a special feature here that I didn’t even know of for many years when I lived here! Just another reason why our hosts transform any trip with all their insights and knowledge as locals.

Relax at Robson Square, a vibrant public space perfect for soaking up the Vancouver vibes while watching people go by. This is one of my favorite spots for capturing the city's energy! And pssst…they even have an ice rink that is free to the public during the winter months.

Hit Robson Street, the most famous shopping district. Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere while browsing shops and cafes. This is your chance to find the perfect souvenir to remember your adventure! Just a heads-up, Robson Street is the heart of Vancouver's bustling downtown, so expect a fun and energetic vibe.

Now, get ready for another photo op! You’ll stop by the Olympic Cauldron, a stunning landmark located in Jack Poole Plaza. The scenic mountain and water views are breathtaking and a great place to learn all about the Olympic games hosted here. Don't forget to snap a picture with the iconic digital orca sculpture.

One last indulgence before heading back? Grab a bite at Breka Bakery and Café, a beloved family-owned spot offering delicious treats. I've been a regular here for years, and I promise you won't regret indulging! Maybe I’ll see you there.

Your last stop is Canada Place, an iconic landmark in the heart of Vancouver. Soak in the city and water views as you process your amazing adventure. Trust me, this is the perfect spot to end your Vancouver experience!

We were only in Vancouver for 2 days and were lucky enough to have Kim as our guide. Kim was born in Vancouver and knows the city very well. In fact, her father is an architect in Vancouver which gave Kim special insight and she was able to point out some very interesting buildings and secret spots that other guides may not know about. Kim was so fun to be with and it felt like we were out for the day with a friend. We told Kim what we wanted to see if the short 3 hours and she was able to fit everything in. We took the underground, a boat and walked around the city. Kim has great knowledge and was such a great tour guide. I would highly recommend this tour and Kim as your guide!!
