Jorge (through city unscripted) was absolutely amazing. Jorge really took us to off the beaten path places. It was also New Year’s Day and most sites were closed, but Jorge still showed us a number of amazing things we would have never seen without a guide. Akari was a very friendly, welcoming and generous host, she provided us with extensive information about restaurants prior to the tour so we could book in advance, which was extremely helpful. She also provided ongoing support after the tour and was quick to respond to messages requesting further information about bars and other attractions to see while we were in town. The tour itself consisted of the Samurai district, a variety of shrines and beautiful gardens around Kanasawa Castle, including some hidden gems we wouldn't have found on our own. A great introduction to Kanasawa to set you up for your stay. Thank you, Akari.

Akari was our guide in Kanazawa, and she was absolutely amazing! She was super attentive and knowledgeable, and she even went out of her way to make sure we had a great time. For example, she gave us dinner suggestions the day before our tour started, which was so helpful. The food was delicious! She was also really helpful in trying to find something I was looking for by going to different shops and asking around. I definitely recommend her the next time you’re in Kanazawa!!

This is a fantastic tour! Akari was our guide, and she was absolutely wonderful. She was very communicative with us before the tour to tailor the experience to what we wanted to see, which we really appreciated. Akari is extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of Kanazawa - we were so impressed and learned a lot! We were super happy to have Megumi as our host! In four hours, we learnt a lot about Kanazawa and Japanese culture and history. Megumi was super engaging and told us many interesting insights and little stories about her hometown. It felt less like a tour and more like hanging out with a new friend. She also helped us make a reservation at a restaurant, and gave us tips on how to spend our second day in Kanazawa. I would definitely recommend this experience and Megumi! Thank you :-)

Megumi was a great guide, she was friendly with a lot of knowledge about Kanazawa. We were lucky that it was not very busy, so we covered the castle, garden the geisha and the samurai district. I enjoyed the tour a lot and it will be one of my best memories of the trip.

Lucy was great! We were a large group with a huge age range (5-79), and one person who couldn’t walk far distances. She worked very hard to find a place that would accommodate us all (the day after Christmas no less!) but that would also us to try the local cuisine. Although we were not able to do the traditional food walking tour- we nonetheless had a wonderful time and got to experience local Kanazawan foods.

Quick tour of the important sites in Kanazawa. We visited many historical and beautiful sites in the city.

Rimikosan was OUTSTANDING!!! She really listened to our needs and accommodated our requests. She packed in all the things we wanted to see into a short period of time and appreciated that we were able to take a taxi rather than public transportation to expedite our time with her. She is professional, well prepared, spoke excellent English and her demeaner was kind & personable. We highly recommend a tour with Rimikosan as you won't be disappointed! We also appeciated all the emails and contact before the tour as well. You should be proud to have such an outstanding guide on your team representing the company!

I enjoyed my half day tour of Kanazawa with Rimiko. Despite the challenges posed by the heavy rain and snow, I was able to see what I was hoping to while in the city thanks to Rimiko’s guidance. She was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly and that made for an enjoyable time visiting Kanazawa in the time that I had.

Despite heavy rain, Yukari showed us a few hidden gems away from the crowds. She was flexible, adapting to the weather. My wife and I had a great time. She spoke perfect English and provided great communication before our tour, even making sure we made bus reservations ahead of time when she found out we wanted to go to Shirakawa Go. We were thankful for her tip as we snagged one the last reservations.

Yukari was awesome. She listened right off to understand exactly what interested me. As a result the 3 hours exceeded my expectation and went far too quickly. To me ‘unscripted’ means just that! To be prepared to go where the interest is and as a result I had a completely unexpected opportunity that I would. Ever have experienced without the help and patience of Yukari. She was relatable and made for a genuinely surprising and memorable experience

We had a terrific day in Kanazawa with our tour guide Karolina. She is from Poland and speaks excellent English and Japanese. This really helped in communicating with us, as well as, getting answers to our questions from the Japanese vendors and experience hosts. Since she also lives in Kanazawa, you could not tell that she was not Japanese because of her mannerisms, so the experience was very authentic. She could very clearly relate the history of the places we visited, but did not bore us by overly doing so. After answering a survey questionnaire, Karolina was able to develop a terrific itinerary for us that included a gold leaf experience, wagashi workshop, great place to eat lunch, and most of the recommended sites in Kanagawa. Although she kept us on schedule, we did not feel rushed at any spot. She responded to all of our pre-tour questions in a very professional and timely manner. Since it was supposed to rain on the day of our tour, she even carried 3 extra umbrellas with her! So if you plan to visit Kanazawa, book a tour with Karolina. It will be 8 hours well spent!

Karolina B. is an EXCELLENT tour guide. I believe she works for CityUnscripted. Karolina is very knowledgeable about the places we visited and their history. She emailed us after we booked the tour date asking us about the preferred sites and attractions we wished to see. She kept in constant communication with us until the day of the tour. On the day of the tour, she arrived early and waited for us in the lobby. We had originally booked a half-day tour but ended up going over our half-day due to the list of sites we wanted to see and the time we spent at each. She never complained but planned the day around our needs. She is very personable and accommodating. We enjoyed our time with her and would highly recommend her to anyone booking this tour.

The walking tour with Haru was very interesting. Haru was extremely knowledgeable in the specific histories of the areas we walked through. It was also conducted at our own pace which my partner and myself very much appreciated it. No hurries. We also appreciated that Haru reached out to us personally before we arrived in Kanazawa to sound us out on our interests in any particular areas which the tour would then be crafted more towards. Haru also met us at our hotel which was also much appreciated as we were unfamiliar with the area initially.

Kanazawa is a cultural goldmine. We got to see so much history and beautiful sites. Our tour guide, Haru, was 10/10. We saw the Kanazawa castle, Omi Cho market, the 3rd most beautiful garden in the world, as well as a geisha district and a samurai district. Haru taught us how to enter shrines and lots about the Japanese culture. We feel so lucky we got her as a guide!

Our Kanazawa guide, Shoten-san, was very knowledgeable and we had an enjoyable tour.

As part of our cruise circumnavigating the islands of Japan, we had only one day to explore Kanazawa. To maximize our time we booked a full day private tour which we thoroughly enjoyed with our guide, Shoten. First of all we really appreciated how well he communicated with us via email early on to plan the day visiting historical and cultural sites. On short notice the cruise line changed our itinerary by one day, and thankfully, Shoten was available. He accommodated the schedule change, and we did most everything we had originally planned - Kenrokuen Castle & Gardens, Samurai & Geisha districts, lunch at a local family restaurant, and a gold leaf experience. We were transported back of the Edo period of Japan for the day. Thank, you, Shoten! That said, Kanazawa is worth much more time than one day.

Shoten mapped out a great itinerary for tour in Kanazawa. He listened to our interests and packed the day very nicely. We went to the Ninja Temple, Ninja Museum, Omichi Market, Oyama Shrine, Kanazawa Castle, Kenrokuen Garden, and ended in the Higashi Chaya District and gold leaf crafting experience. We were somewhat limited in our communication due to the language barrier on both sides. Also, please be aware that all admission fees, lunch as well as transportation for the day as well as for Shoten's travel to and from home is the responsibility of the client.
