Bavarian beer gardens, lake-side relaxing and boat rides to beautiful islands
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
You’ll feel just like a Müncher as you head off on a jaunt to Starnberg See (head’s up: see means lake) with one of our local Munich hosts. After a quick train ride (what’s 30 minutes between friends) you’ll spend half a day surrounded by natural beauty (we’re not just talking about you and your host) as you enjoy dips in the refreshing waters of this lake, cruising on a pedalo or relaxing with an ice-cold beer and indulging in some traditional food in a Bavarian beer garden.
If the weather’s not made for lake-side relaxing, explore the charming town of Starnberg or take a boat to Rose Island, the only island in the lake which also happens to be home to a museum. By the end of your short time out of the city, you’ll be feeling refreshed and ready to take the city on again - which is exactly why the locals come here.

Marion was such an incredible tour guide and took us on such an adventure and it was everything we could have wanted and more!!
Show moreMichele was very friendly and helpful. She kept us active and moving our first day in Munich so we could stay awake and adjust to the time change. Gave us good recommendations for the rest of our stay.
Show moreIt was a joy to spend the day with Linus and we could not be happier with our tour with him! So, so thankful that we booked this adventure!
Show moreNino was very good at navigating the various transit methods to get around the city and down to lake Starnberg. Throughout the tour, she provided good information on the locations we visited. She also provided pleasant company thought the tour, which was much appreciated.
Show moreThe walking tour with Anna felt like catching up with an old friend in their city. She tailored the tour to include hidden streets lined with local designers and antique stores. We had coffee and an unforgettable pistachio cinnamon bun, and walked through the English garden ending up at the Haust de Kunst. I would strongly recommend a solo tour with Anna, whose knowledge and insights about Munich unravel in a beautiful story of history, culture and place.
Show moreA solo tour is on the expensive side BUT for someone with limited time, it is the best way to see what you want to see and not get caught up in tourist traps.
