Dine with a local at one of their favorite trattorias in Bologna, Italy's food capital. Eating like an Italian doesn't get closer than this!
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
Ah, bella Italia, how we adore your dedication to delicious food. Bologna is known as Italy’s food capital (a contentious title if ever we heard one), and the only thing better than good food is good food and good company.
So you’ll join one of our friendly local Bologna hosts to enjoy dinner together at a local trattoria or osteria, indulging in great food, cooked with all the love and attention you’d expect in Bologna la Grassa.
Get to know Bologna’s cuisine and traditional dishes, as you feast on antipasti followed by two traditional courses, or perhaps one course and delicious gelato (we suggest you don’t wear tight trousers). The Bolognese are passionate about their food culture, and with such incredible seasonal produce available, it’s no wonder.
Italian meals are all about enjoyment and gratifying conversation, so get to know your host over a few glasses of wine, chatting about the food culture of the area. They’ll also be more than happy to fill you in on all the best eateries and food markets to try out during the remainder of your stay.

Mirko was wonderful! He knows everything about Bologna and can tailor the tour to anything you want to see and do. He is so passionate about the food and also knows so much history!
Show moreHad a phenomenal time with him in Bologna. The man’s knowledge of the history of the city was amazing. The tour was never bland or boring. He always kept it fun and entertaining. He left it up to us how much of the tour would be food based and history based. We got a lot of both. The food spots were delicious. Make sure you make him take you for gelato (he’s even got a spreadsheet on what gelato spots are best in town, the guys an expert) I highly recommend the tour. I knew nothing about Bologna and now it is one of my favorite spots on earth
Show moreWe really enjoyed our Bologna food tour with Simoni Lorenza. We tasted all types of local foods while walking through the city (and learning about its history). We enjoyed it so much that we scheduled another tour with her - a day trip to a Parmesan factory and a balsamic vinegar house. I highly recommend!
Show moreWe took the train to Bologna for the day from Milan. Our guide, Daniele was just wonderful - we were a party go 6 - directions for meeting were perfect. Daniele was very friendly, kind and informative - we were a "walking food tour" but he pointed out historical sights, brought us to amazing markets, food/wine tastings and left us with places to see when our time was done. We would definitely recommend this tour and enjoying the many wonderful aspects of Bologna!
