Kickstart your Fukuoka adventure with local insights, shortlist the best yatai stands, and learn to navigate the city like a pro.
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
Set your trip up for success with a three-hour crash course in Fukuoka, from navigating the transport systems to learning the distinct character of each district. You’ll be guided between crowded hubs and laid-back local haunts (with a quick pitstop for a flannel drip coffee at one of the many hipster cafes). See the ultra-modern, LED-lit stomping grounds of the city’s trendy twenty-something crowd, and get a taste of traditional Japan while jostling through Nagahamasengyo Market. Learn the inner workings of the subway system as you head to historical shopping district, Nishijin – and, if the time is right, grab a bite from one of Fukuoka’s famous yatai street food carts, or slurp down tonkotsu ramen in the city that invented it.

It was a bit difficult to find the guide as we were supposed to meet at the huge Hakata station. But we managed and the guided tour through the streets of Fukuoka was marked by professional competence and good places outside the usual tourist spots. The guide could tell us a lot about the places we visited and was very pleasant company. A really good tour that can definitely be recommended.
Show moreThe trip through the streets of Fukuoka and secret free space was exactly what we had been looking for. We were led around to different places that were not crowded with tourists and found places we would never have found on our own. A really rewarding and complete trip, with a pleasant and competent guide. Luis was the perfect guide.

Show moreWe had an enjoyable and memorable tour experience with Eli. Soon after I first booked our tour, Eli contacted me by email and provided a brief itinerary of a mostly walking tour to popular historic and scenic sights around Fukuoka. I could tell right away she was personable and her communication skills were excellent. She let me know that we could make adjustments anytime, including during our tour. Eli met us promptly in our hotel lobby and my initial impression of her communication skills were confirmed.
