What you’ll do

Nagoya is synonymous with Japan’s old automotive industry – but with its peaceful atmosphere, welcoming locals, tranquil gardens, and ancient shrines, the city is so much more than the birthplace of Toyota. With your local host leading you to the spots that truly define Nagoya, you could explore Nagoya Castle, where real-life ninjas put on demonstrations (if you can find them), or you could see 1900-year-old Atsuta Shrine, one of the most significant in Japan. Whether you grab on-the-go tenmusu (rice balls with shrimp tempura) or relax at an izakaya in a secret Fushimi underpass, it won’t be difficult to see why this dynamic city – where tradition effortlessly meets modernity – is referred to as geidokoro: a cultural center of Japan.

Kumi was a fantastic tour guide! I absolutely adored her and her local knowledge about Nagoya. I wasn't sure what to expect from our first stop in Japan but she made it so memorable and taught us so much about Japanese culture that we were able to use on the rest of our trip. I completely recommend this tour to anyone interested in Nagoya or Japanese culture at all!

Atsumi was so friendly and sweet.she took us to great places including the Toyota museum and Nagoya Castle. She also picked an excellent place for lunch, the Red Miso restaurant. She was so patient with our group of 8 people as we learned the subway system. It was a fun day thanks to her!
