Eat, drink, shop, sing, repeat all night long - Japan’s friendliest city sure delivers!
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
For a truly authentic Osakan experience, you could kick things off with a butt-naked scrub down at a traditional sento, where locals freshen up before some well-deserved hashigo zake, or bar hopping, as we know it. Your local insider has the scoop on hideouts like Hozenji Yokocho and the maze of bars in Tenma, and will make up for any language barriers.
The local patrons of Osaka’s izakaya will happily talk to you all night - even if you don’t speak Japanese! Your host will effortlessly order plates of dishes like kushikatsu as you pour sake for one another, then feed your sake-induced insomnia with gyoza pork dumplings and some karaoke, or end your experience slurping ramen on the way home - just like a true local!

Show moreThoroughly enjoyed my time with Antoine, my guide for the evening, messaged me well in advance to set an itinerary based of my personal interests on what I wanted to see. he put some interesting stops at places and buildings with interesting histories and characters. I would definitely recommend this.
Show moreOur guided tour with host Maria lead us to a lot of interesting and bustling places in the vicinities of Dotonbori and Shinsekai districts. Our guide was able to provide a lot of background info, e.g. on the meaning of the "Billiken" statuettes, the hidden Hozen-Ji temple and the reason why there is a sign on Ebisubashi bridge prohibiting diving. We were taken to well-known places, like the Kuromon fish market, but also to places we'd never have entered or even found on our own, like a tiny Karaoke pub (where they sold snake-flavoured booze), a Pachinko salon (a slot-machine hell, just for watching), a house with lots of awkward theme pubs (like one where you attend a funeral while eating) and a very nice conveyor sushi restaurant. We've enjoyed the tour a lot, Maria is a very sympathetic and well-informed guide, fluent in both Japanese and English. She planned the tour from the outset, but also took our interests into account while we were on the road. The only downer was the huge number of people, but that's part and parcel of this place, and it was Saturday. But since we were lead through side alleys where possible (with even more hidden gems inside), we could circumvent them here and there, which is a bonus of a tour given by a local. In a nutshell: Great tour, great guide, highly recommended.
