4 hours tailored to what you want to see and do. So whether it's ticking off main sites or discovering hidden gems, it's up to you and your host!
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
Yokohama’s internationalized history has given the city many contrasting sides – from the futuristic bayside to the historical “old towns” of Kannai to the perfectly preserved shrines and temples of Sankei-en Garden. And with just four hours and a local insider, you’ll experience more of these sides than you knew existed.
Whether you walk down lantern-lit Noge’s narrow alleys to a cozy izakaya serving Yokohama’s famous Kirin beer and breadcrumb-battered aji furai (mackerel), stop off at the Yokohama Noh Theater for an impressive production of traditional Japanese performing arts, or simply gawk at giant shopping complexes in the fast-paced downtown districts, you’ll soon see why this city must be experienced to be understood.

Hiroko met us at the Yokohama cruise terminal. We only had one day before flying home and asked that we see some highlights. We used a taxi to drive around Yokohama before boarding a train to Tokyo. We saw the beautiful Tokyo station dome. Upon exiting the station, there was a formal procession in front of the Tokyo station hotel where the South Korean ambassador was arriving. How exciting. As this was a Monday, the Imperial Palace was closed. We went to Nakamise-Dori Street where traditional souvenirs and snacks are sold. This is the main entrance to the beautiful Sensoji Temple. We asked Hiroko to take us to a traditional Japanese restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious lunch. The menus have pictures and in English. This whole area was entertaining and gave us a glimpse of the Japanese culture. We returned to Yokohama by train. We were impressed by the cleanliness of everything. The Japanese people are very polite and well mannered. What a good example for the world. Being that we only had six hours, Hiroko made the most of this short time. She was very friendly, informative and we would highly recommend her services.
Show moreThis was an unforgettable trip that I will forever treasure! Estela was the best tour guide and made sure I got to do everything on my bucket list and more! While in Japan, I wanted to see as much as I could and even just get comfortable using the train and finding my way places. Estela was able to not only get me comfortable doing so, she was also such a joy to spend the day with. We took the scenic route and I got to see so many things I would not have even known to look for had I been traveling by myself. Some of my favorite things that we did included going to a Japanese temple and walking around there, and also we went to an all you can eat noodle shop where the noodles slide down a bamboo shoot and you need to use chopsticks to collect the noodles before they slip past you. The entire time I was with Estela was the best time and she even went out of her way to help me find a place where I could but a kimono, it was something I wanted to do while in Japan, and she made sure I got to do it. It really was an incredible way to explore the area and it made my trip to Japan!
