Pinchos in Mercado de San Anton, old-school vermut bars and the trendiest tapas barrio in town.
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
You’ll join one of our local Madrid hosts to enjoy what is obviously the best part of the day - the part where you do tapas (it isn’t something you go for, it’s something you do). The question isn’t if you do it (since the answer is always yes), it’s where to go.
You’re in luck since your host can’t wait to share with you some of their favorite tapas places. You know, the ones that are more secret than anything you’d find in a guidebook. All you need to do is let us know your vibe, and we’ll do the rest.
Do you see yourself in a sleek bar in upmarket Salamanca, an old-school vermouth bar in down-to-earth, humble and diverse Lavapiés, a quirky tapas bar in hip(ster) Malasaña or a market like Mercado de San Anton, which has three floors of gastro bliss, aka tiny bars where you can sample pinchos (tapas held together with a small stick)?
Would you like to drink an ice-cold caña (the local unit of beer), sip Spanish vermouth or try a regional wine? Do you want to feast on garlicky grilled prawns, the finest slivers of Iberian ham, deep-fried croquetas, or a more global take on traditional tapas?
You see, the choice is dizzying, so having a local to share the experience with will be like having a fairy godmother by your side. Flit between three or four bars for a varied experience or settle in at one you like the sound of; we just wish we could join you!

Not only did we learn about the tapas culture, how to order, where to eat them, we also saw different parts of the city and heard personal stories from Ricardo. His English was excellent, and he was very knowledgeable about Madrid and Spain. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore Madrid.

Show moreI had a fantastic evening experience in Madrid with Jorge. Starting with a chilled walk through some of the parks and ending with food and drinks in one of the more alternative neighbourhoods, I managed to see the city as only a local would. Highly recommended!
Show moreThis was a food tour. I booked a private tour because we are vegetarians and hence felt a group tour might not be suitable. It was a nice evening out with Isabel and we tried a couple of vegan restaurants. I wouldn’t say the tour delivered value for the amount charged.
Show moreAlba was great for our 2 hour tour. Being a native of Madrid provided great insights into the history and kicked off our Spain trip. Highly recommend Alba.
Show moreLisa was fantastic-very flexible and accommodating; she adjusted the itinerary on the fly and customized the experience according to our interests. All in all, a wonderful day in Madrid!
