Taste local delights at Marché Bastille, fusion foods at trendy eateries and some quick bites at local fromageries and pâtisseries
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
With your host as your own personal elite Yelp Reviewer, let the smells of freshly baked baguettes guide you down Marché Bastille, where it’s totally acceptable to have oysters for breakfast, and fascinating fusion food is just around the corner – from Franco-Japanese to French-Korean. See classic bistros that have been reinvented and revived, like clown-themed restaurant Clown Bar – it’s far more glamorous than it sounds – or Au Passage, where tapas include calves’ brains and beef heart. As the sun sets, and Paris’s romance makes way for revelry, duck into one of the trendy, street-art plastered Oberkampf neighborhood’s lively bars for apéro - pick your poison - and a small plate of nibbles.

Show moreDimitri was a wonderful tour guide. He made sure that he knew the correct hotel via email where we were staying. It seems that there are 2 Hotel Operas on the same block. He asked a lot of questions to make sure he knew what we expected of our tour. He was prompt. In person, he continued to ask us questions about what we wanted from our experience. He showed us how to use the Metro. He was engaging and explained where we were going. The Bastille area was the perfect place to take us. We figured that we received a wonderful architectural tour as well as a food tour. He found a lovely Brewpub in Le Marais, Brew Dog. He checked when I expressed interest in buying a glass to take home as a souvenir. No, but I have a photo. We walked and talked in that area as well as the bustling Jewish district. We ended up having a wine and cheese tasting as well at DiVino. It was so delicious that we bought a couple of bottles of wine and cheese for the rest of the trip. We took the Metro, and he walked us back to our hotel. Using city unscripted was the highlight of our Paris stay. Dimitri was well prepared, organized, and very easy to talk to. We felt very comfortable with him and were extremely delighted with our tour. I would highly recommend him and using city unscripted. Thank you again for an exceptional start to my vacation
