See the best of Florence, Italy’s Cradle of the Renaissance, in its enchanting central districts.
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
A treasure trove of ancient relics, Florence can’t possibly be experienced in just one day – but with a local host leading the way, you can certainly make the most of Italy’s romantic Renaissance jewel. At the Column of Abundance, you could learn about the creation of present-day Piazza della Repubblica, or walk to Ponte Vecchio just outside the old city, a medieval arch bridge crossing the Arno River. Maybe you’ll move between monuments like the Torre della Castagna and the San Lorenzo church, sample local cheese at an upmarket grocery store or taste Tuscan wines at a well-appointed wine bar, glimpse at the old city walls and gates, or walk among the ancient homes of the well-heeled. Lovers of literature might want to join locals browsing books at the 300-year-old library, while foodies can tuck into typical Tuscan cuisine at a cozy trattoria.

Show moreMy Wife and I booked an 8-hour walking tour in Florence to celebrate our wedding Anniversary. Martina was our local host. The whole walking tour was laid back and we got to experience some of the local haunts including food and drink stops and a one-of-a-kind mosaic family workshop and saw from the outside most of the main sites around the centre of Florence. We would have maybe liked a bit more historical information but having a pleasant and knowledgeable local who tailored the tour according to our wishes, and just enjoying the ambience made this tour special. Thank you, Martina,
Show moreMartina contacted us beforehand to find out what we wanted to see. We asked to see Florence plus the must-see landmarks. Boy, did she deliver. We saw so much of Florence in one day....so much that we would have missed had we not been with Martina. From markets, churches and lots of districts with their streets and squares. She also took us to a great coffee shop where I tried a local pastry, and lunch in a restaurant where I tried Chianti and tomato and bread soup. All in all, a great day. Thank you, Martina,
Show moreWe booked the 2 hour private tour with a local guide. I highly recommend this tour. Our guide Mara with "City Unscripted" was very knowledgeable and took us to areas of Florence that we would not have ventured to on our own. She made recommendations for things for us to do on our own and places to eat that were not in touristy part of Florence.
