Ivy-clad trattorias, cobbled piazzas, street performers and la dolce vita 24 hours a day.
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
You’ll join one of our local Rome hosts to explore one of our favorite neighborhoods in Rome (and coincidentally the favorite of the city’s students, artists, bohemians, skateboarders, street performers, and the odd hipster or two).
Known for its cobbled piazzas and ivy-clad trattorias, this is authentic, laid-back Rome at its best. You’ll explore tiny shops that have been there for generations, boutiques where local designers sell their handmade jewelry, clothes, homeware, and accessories, and markets and specialist food shops where locals do their shopping.
Soak up the atmosphere and get a taste of what local life is like; watch street performers, stop by local delis to sample produce like regional cheeses and enjoy aperitivo as the sun goes down like the locals.
Let yourself be captivated by Trastevere’s lively character and Roman charm and discover hidden squares, cobbled pathways leading to unique bars, and classic pavement cafes.
It’s 99% guaranteed you’ll want to stay as dusk falls and the night gets into swing - this is one of the liveliest nightlife areas in the city, and where else would you rather be at dusk than enjoying a drink in a piazza?

I had a very nice time seeing Trastevere, stopping for drinks and snacks and seeing a garden

Show moreChristi was wonderful. We felt like we were visiting with a friend, or nephew (we are decades older than him but it made no difference). Medieval houses in tucked away neighborhoods, the house where Dante lived, churches with the most glorious mosaics, the best leather shop, which restaurants to try, Roman history, Etruscan history, so much to take in. He was generous with his time, humorous in his approach, and very personable. A marvelous afternoon. Highly recommend this.
