Tickled pink Parks, picnics, and pink flowers Sakura by the seaside
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
As March draws to a close and the famous cherry blossoms are newly blooming, Japan’s festive mood is infectious. With a local host leading you down sakura-lined paths, shop for savory snacks and pastel pink mochi – Japanese confections – at the Fukuoka Castle Sakura Festival in Maizuru Park, or head to a konbini supermarket and grab snacks for your makeshift picnic.
Head to one of Fukuoka’s most famous cherry blossom viewing spots like Nishi Park, where hundreds of families gather for hanami picnics under 1,300 trees, or, for an extra-memorable experience, take a 30-minute train ride to Uminonakamichi Seaside Park for a stroll under cherry blossom tunnels, views of multi-colored spring flower gardens, and a fresh ocean breeze.

Show moreYu was great and showed me restaurants that I never would've known about without him. I'm going back to two of them everyday for the rest of the holiday now. Yu was great to talk to and hang out with. Had a fantastic time
Show moreSumire had a lot of interesting stories to tell not just about Fukuoka city & the places we went to, but also about herself. It was really nice getting to know her as an individual & we had good conversation over the course of the 3 hours we spent together. She was really genuine & sincere in getting to know me & sharing her recommendations around the city.

Show moreThis was an excellent experience. I had the great honor of being guided by Bruce who has been living in Fukuoka for more than 20 years and has made a significant impact on the modern Yatai food scene. He was very professional and fun. He explained and showed me the true essence of Fukuoka which helped me further understand its local culture. I am a big history and culture person, so I had an absolutely stellar time. Highly recommend this tour and please ask for Bruce if you are interested in the Yatai!
