As the world opens up for travel once again, we want to give you the peace of mind that City Unscripted and our hosts are taking COVID-19 seriously and placing utmost importance on your safety.
We’ve made it a priority to implement stringent safety measures that ensure the health and wellbeing of our guests and our local hosts, and every single one of our experiences is following the appropriate rules and guidelines for safe travel. Our safety measures won’t take away the fun of your experience, but we hope they will put you at ease.
Guided by the World Health Organization (WHO), country policies, and local government communication, we have implemented the following measures to keep our guests and hosts sightseeing safely:
We are only hosting experiences in suitable cities
We are currently only hosting experiences in cities where lockdown restrictions have been lifted and warning levels are minimal. We are strictly following WHO guidelines and each local government’s health and safety recommendations.
We are enforcing strict hygiene protocols
To prevent the spread of infection, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends regularly washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer where soap and water are not available.
City Unscripted is providing hosts with hand sanitizer that must be used every 30 minutes. If a guest does not have hand sanitizer, the host will recommend places to purchase it.
We are educating and training our hosts.
Our hosts receive regular updates and training and are required to follow City Unscripted’s new policies in compliance with the WHO and the local government’s health and safety recommendations.
For outdoor experiences, our hosts are required to keep a safe social distance of 1.5 meters from guests at all times. (This distance may vary by city and area according to government guidelines.)
We are implementing preventative measures
We require all hosts and guests to check and certify their temperature at least 6 hours before the start of the experience, with any temperature above 37.3°C resulting in a canceled or postponed experience.
Guests and hosts are also required to carry a mask at all times. On public transport, when entering indoor places, or when walking through particularly crowded areas, hosts and guests must wear a mask.
We are relying on our network of knowledgeable hosts
In many ways, our hosts are our number one tool to enable safe travel. They stay on top of their government’s guidelines and understand that the rules are subject to regular change.
Because our local hosts are intimately familiar with their cities, they are also aware of the safest places to visit. When it comes to knowing which restaurants, bars, and attractions are open – and which environments will keep our guests the most comfortable – our hosts truly are the best source of information.
