You’ll learn about Nagasaki’s painful past, but also celebrate its resilience and bright future.
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
Its name may be synonymous with the calamitous events of WWII, but Nagasaki is so much more than its past, with dazzling attractions beyond its monuments and memorials. The only person who understands the spirit of the city is someone who lives here – like your local host! Maybe you’ll visit a hilltop park like Kazagashira with stunning views of the port, or snap pictures of Meganebashi bridge – sorry, no prize for guessing what its reflection resembles! You could visit Suwa Shrine, a proud survivor of the atomic bomb, and 400-year-old Shōfuku-ji temple, then grab a bite of fusion food at Chinatown – but maybe a stroll through the Nagasaki Peace Park, where you can fully comprehend the city’s resilience, is on your bucket list.

We went on two different City Unscripted tours in Nagasaki. Both tours were terrific and the guides fantastic (Sho and Armand). Saw areas and ate in restaurants that we would never have found on our own. Well worth the cost!
Show moreArmand ensured that our tour was engaging and fun for not only us but also our 9 year old grandson. We were treated to lots of quirky facts, and places we visited included temples, shrines and our favourite, Dejima. Our grandson especially liked hunting for Miffy hidden around this area. Armand kindly took photos of us so that we could always treasure our Nagasaki memories.

Show moreWe had an excellent half day tour of Nagasaki with Masaaki-san. He was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with. He met us at our cruise ship dock and accompanied us back at the end of the tour. Masaaki-san tailored the tour to our interests and went out of his way to make sure we had a fun and interesting experience. Thank you Masaaki-san and City Unscripted for a memorable day!
Show moreMiki showed us an amazing set of highlights in Nagasaki. Temples, historic districts, memorial sites and beautiful parks. We even caught the sun setting over the ocean, thanks to her perfect planning. Highly recommended!
