Hi there!
Discover more about meI’m Alex Before ending up in Japan, many years back, I had a nomad life across several Asian countries for many years as well. I spent most of that time in India, where among other activities I had my first experiences as a tour guide. There I also met my wife, and when the relationship got more serious we decided to settle down and have a more stable life, we chose Japan where she is from. Since then I had many personal experiences in this country in different fields such as human relations, jobs in different sectors, trips, bizarre situations, etc, experiences that I always like to share, together with some knowledge about aspects of the culture that I studied for years, just for the sake of getting knowledge without thinking that I would do this activity later on. By the way, I appreciate a lot the human factor, and besides having a responsibility I enjoy a lot just meeting and being with new people. In other words; I love this job, I love the culture I show, and I love human communication in itself. Let’s meet and spend time together so I can show you the best of this city, the cultural capital of Japan
Relaxed, personable, and deeply insightful, I blend cultural knowledge with real-life stories to create a friendly and meaningful experience that feels like exploring Kyoto with an old friend.

Amazing tour. Toga our guide was very knowledgeable and adapted the tour well based on our interests. Would highly recommend!
Show moreOur guide! Toga was the best. He offered us choices as to what we wanted to do for the evening and catered the experience to what we were up for in that moment. He was also very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area and I felt like I actually learned something about the places we visited. He also had an affable personality and was very chill and easy going. He even later sent text links to some places we were interested in visiting on our own- which we actually did. He recommended a nice late night gyoza spot we ended up going to that was fantastic. We all really enjoyed our tour with him and would highly recommend him as a tour guide.

Show moreHello, I'm Michael, and I would like to introduce myself and share with you why I live in Kyoto and love it so much.
Discover more about meMy journey began seven years ago when I took a break from my Italian restaurant in Houston, Texas, and traveled to Japan. Starting in Sendai and Matsushima, I went down to Miyajima and Hiroshima, and then I worked my way back to Tokyo. Along the way, I stopped in Kobe, Osaka, Nara, and Kyoto. After only two days and nights in Kyoto, I knew that this city was special. Once back in the USA, I made a plan for the next chapter of my life. Living in Japan! Moving and living here has been, and is so rewarding. The people are so kind, the country is amazingly beautiful and the food is absolutely delicious. During the first few years, I explored the countryside and traversed most of the city, worked as a rafting guide on the Setagawa River, and, up until last December, owned and operated one of only three Cajun establishments in all of Japan. My hobbies include surfing, scuba, camping, enjoying wines from across the globe, museums, the fine arts and obviously cooking. I hope you will allow me to spend a little time with you so I can show you what makes Kyoto one of a kind. Thank you

Discover more about meI'm deeply fascinated by how this modern city effortlessly transforms into a time capsule, preserving its rich heritage spanning over 400 years. José was a great tour guide! We wanted to escape the crowds during sakura season while still see some amazing sights. José understood the brief perfectly and took us to places we would have otherwise not discovered. He was highly knowledgeable on the history of these places and Japanese culture in general as somebody who had lived in Japan for years. We highly enjoyed our time together! He was also highly efficient as we saw so much. Thank you again José for a lovely morning and the great food recommendations.
