Unleash your inner Mancunian and explore the best of Manchester. From English pubs to science centers and everything in between.
Here’s everything you need to know before your day unfolds.
Are you ready for an amazing day out in Manchester? This stunning city has a ton of fun things to do and see; it can be a little overwhelming. So I've lined up some fantastic stops for you that are sure to make for an unforgettable adventure. Get ready to explore the best of Manchester with a local host showing you the ins and outs. Let's dive into the heart of this vibrant city, explore its rich history, and soak up its lively atmosphere.
First up, head to the Science and Industry Museum. This place is a treasure trove of fascinating exhibits, and it's housed in a former railway station, which adds a cool historic vibe. You'll find everything from steam engines to interactive displays about the latest technology. There's something here for everyone, whether you're a science geek or just love learning new things. One of my favorite exhibits is the one about Manchester's industrial past. Seeing how this city played such a pivotal role in the Industrial Revolution is mind-blowing - I'll leave the rest to your host. Don't miss the Air and Space Hall either; the vintage aircraft and space artifacts are awe-inspiring.
Leaving the museum, take a pleasant stroll to your next stop - The Deansgate Pub, one of my favorite spots to unwind. This charming pub is perfect for a midday break. It's got that classic British pub feel with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The exposed brickwork and vintage decor make it feel like you're stepping back in time. Grab a pint of local ale – they have a great selection (your host will know the best options to try) – and if you're feeling peckish, their fish and chips are top-notch. The outdoor terrace is a great spot to relax and watch the world go by, especially if the weather is nice. Plus, it's a great place to chat with the locals; Mancunians are some of the friendliest people you'll meet.
After a relaxing break, head towards St Peter's Square - a historic and cultural hub. The highlight here is the statue of Emmeline Pankhurst, a tribute to the iconic leader of the British suffragette movement. It's incredibly inspiring to stand before her statue and think about her incredible impact on women's rights. I'm sure your host will have a ton of stories to tell you, as she's incredibly iconic. Take a moment to explore the square. The Central Library is a stunning piece of architecture, and the Midland Hotel nearby is a historic gem. If you're a fan of architecture, you'll love the mix of classical and modern buildings around the square. It's also a great spot to people-watch and absorb the vibrant city atmosphere.
Your final stop is just a short walk away. Albert Schloss is the perfect place to end your day. This Bavarian-inspired bier palace is a fantastic mix of fun, flair, and incredible food and drinks. The atmosphere here is electric, especially in the evenings when they have live music and entertainment. It's like stepping into a lively German beer hall but with a cool Mancunian twist. Try one of their craft beers or signature cocktails – the selection is terrific. And if you're hungry, their schnitzels and wood-fired pizzas are to die for. The interior is just as impressive as the menu, with plush seating, a roaring fire, and quirky decor, making it feel both grand and cozy.
So there you have it – a perfect day out in Manchester! From the fascinating exhibits at the Science and Industry Museum to the lively vibes at Albert Schloss, this city never fails to impress. Enjoy every moment, and don't forget to take lots of pictures. Cheers to an unforgettable adventure!

Manchester is such a cool City and my tour guide Darren was perfect. He has lots of interesting local knowledge about the town’s history and culture. He was fascinating on the music scene in particular. It was fun and I would highly recommend.
Show moreManchester is such a fantastic City. There is so much to see but it is all very walkable. Darren was interesting and funny and passed on his love for the area. He knows a great deal about the history of the City and the music scene in particular. It was a fab morning tour! I would highly recommend.
Show moreDid you know that the “insert item” was invented in Manchester? We learned so much on our two hour tour including the incredible listing of invented/created in Manchester tidbits that we have a new found affinity for the city that has nothing to do with its football teams. Jutta was always communicating prior to the tour and even gave us a great pub suggestion for the day before our scheduled tour - she gave us a great 2 hour tour covering everything we asked for in the lead up to the tour. We wanted to know about the history of the city with some emphasis on the music scene in particular the late 70’s and early 80’s punk and new wave music makers. We ended the tour with another great suggestion for a quiet coffee and scone location. Jutta can easily be hired for a longer tour should one have the time or inclination. I’m sure we missed so much. However, it was what we asked for and she delivered in spades. A great tour!
Show moreMy husband and I had a great time on the tour with Roy. He is exceptionally kind, vastly knowledgeable, and engages in easy, friendly conversation. He provided us an eclectic history of Manchester with lessons on the city’s origins, music, food, architecture, and much more.
Show moreOur guide, Darren, was fantastic! We signed up for the Manchester Music Tour, but Darren did such a great job with combining it with Football history along with overall history of the City of Manchester. He had first hand knowledge of so many of the places that we visited and it was so great to get his perspective having lived through the Madchester scene! Darren was extremely personable and we got on with him very well. I would strongly recommend him to anyone that has a chance to participate in one of his many tours.
