I’ve lived in Fukuoka for 62 years

I am Tour guide, sea urchin and oyster processing
Hello, Miyuki here; I am a licensed guide in Fukuoka. What I love and that draws a lot of visitors to Fukuoka is that you can be transported between the city center and the beautiful countryside within a few minutes. I love shopping in Hakata and Tenjin districts; you can truly find anything your heart desires. My favorite thing to do in the city is to watch theatre productions in Hakataza or indulge in some retail therapy. I would love to take you to the Miyajidake Shrine, which is very famous for Hikarinomichi or Path of Light, Hakata station, the neighboring district, Iwataya and Tenjin districts, and the Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine. If you enjoy food as much as I do, we are going to enjoy my favorite spots in Fukuoka, whether you enjoy street food or fine dining!
Mickey gave us a good tour of Hakate Old Town where we saw shrines and temples. Her English was good and she was informative and entertaining. If was a good introduction to Fukuoka.
December 2024
Mickey shared an off the beaten track experience with me, which included quiet gardens and temples. One temple showcased a huge wooden buddha, and she walked me through rituals and the proper way to light candles and incense. The final stop was a garden with the opportunity to have a Japanese sweet and try a bowl of traditional matcha Japanese tea. At the station before we said goodbye, she helped me buy a train ticket for an upcoming journey and gave me several restaurant recommendations. I really enjoyed my time with Mickey.
November 2024
We had the best day with Mickey in Fukuoka.
October 2024
I had so much fun during my tour with Mickey! It felt like I was hanging out with an old friend. We went to the Tokyu Hands at Hakata Station, and she helped me shop for cute stamps and an ultralight umbrella. She took me on a walking tour of Old Hakata at night, and she patiently showed me how to cleanse in preparation for worship at Kushida Shrine. I had earlier requested that we partake of non-ramen food for which Fukuoka is famous, and the izakaya dinner she arranged did not disappoint. We enjoyed yakitori, a mentaiko-cheese omelette, seaweed salad, sushi, and motsunabe (now one of my favorite Japanese dishes). She also gave great suggestions to visit Fukuoka tower at night and important sights at Hiroshima (and to make sure to eat the okonomiyaki at Reichan). This was my first time working with a tour guide one-on-one, and I am so glad I got to hang out with Mickey. I hope to see her again the next time I am in Fukuoka!
