Hi there! I'm Sumire, your friendly local host in the amazing city of Fukuoka. I'm so grateful to call this city my home, and I love sharing its unique charm with visitors. Fukuoka is truly special, being the entrance of Asia and with its convenient location near the international airport, it's easy to access from the downtown area. Plus, the city is a perfect blend of historical buildings and modern city life, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. In my free time, I enjoy watching local theatre plays, exploring the delicious food scene, and discovering hidden gems around the city. I'm an expert when it comes to the streets and historic places in both Hakata and Tenjin, and I love showing visitors around these areas to showcase the charm of this fantastic city. I would love to take you on a tour and show you why I'm so passionate about Fukuoka. With its unique blend of history, modernity, and nature, you're sure to fall in love with this city just like I have. Let's go explore!

We arranged a private morning walking tour with Sumire. Sumire is from Fukuoka and teaches English when she is is not guiding tourists. Her English is very good. Sumire will tailor the tour to your suggestion. We visited Ohori Park to visit the beautiful garden there. We then went over to the adjacent area of the Fukuoka Castles Ruins to learn about some history of the area. Then we walked through the Kawabata covered street to the Kushida Shrine. Sumire's answers greatly helped in orienting ourselves to the city core, including using the local bus and subway. She suggested several favorite eateries including a nearby udon shop. We probably would have never found this shop on our own, it was very delicious. It was great to connect with a local in learning about the place we are visiting.
