Hey there! I'm Afifa, your go-to local host in enchanting Kyoto. I love to immerse myself in the city's vibrant culture, attending iconic festivals like Aoi Matsuri, Gion Matsuri, and Jidai Matsuri. This city is an adventurer wonderland, with many cultural and natural wonders, as well as diverse shopping districts. Exploring Kyoto is my passion, especially when it involves vintage gems. From the charming Kawaramachi Sanjo to the historic Higashiyama, I know the ins and outs of Kyoto's neighborhoods. I'm a foodie, constantly enjoying the variety of local noodle shops and bakeries. Being a Kyoto guru, I've got the inside scoop on vintage kimono markets and flea markets. So, whether you're a culture buff or a foodie explorer, join me in unlocking the excitement of Kyoto. Let's make your Kyoto experience unforgettable!
The tour allowed us to have someone guide us between two major tourist sites so we could just enjoy. The best part is to learn about someone else’s life in Japan.

Afifa was our guide when we went in mid-September. She was very accommodating and hospitable. Due to a mix-up in platform instructions, we were informed of different meeting points, which resulted in us being almost half an hour late. Nonetheless, Afifa was very patient, told us to take our time, and still did the entire 3 hours of the tour. Even though she was not Japanese and had not been in Japan for very long, Afifa was quite knowledgeable. When she did not know the answer to a question, she also admitted that instead of trying to invent an answer. She was additionally very open about sharing her personal story as to why she was in Japan, which I thought was nice as I enjoy hearing about other people's backgrounds. Lastly, she gave us very good, practical "day-to-day" tips for traveling around Japan (e.g. how to get rid of excess coins, how to use the public vending machines). She did a great job and I would definitely recommend her as a guide to others.

We were fortunate to have had Afifah as our tour guide. She's very knowledgeable of the history of the sites we visited. She also took us to Instagram worthy spots that weren't crowded. The best part for us was that she's a Muslim. That means looking for halal street foods was easy and suggestions for halal restaurants were always available. This really enhanced our visit to Kyoto! She's also great with children. Highly recommended.
