Wondering what to do in Mexico City?

Mexico City is an effortless marriage of classic and contemporary – a patchwork quilt of colorful colonial buildings, Art Nouveau architecture, and ancient Aztec landmarks embedded into the fabric of a modern city. The things to do in Mexico City celebrate both its rich culture and cool cosmopolitan scene with generations’ worth of art and entertainment. The best things to do in Mexico City are as diverse as the city itself: explore ancient churches and cathedrals in the historic center, be seduced by an electrifying underground nightlife scene, or grab a meal at an old-school cantina. The Mexican capital has something magical for every type of traveler.

Astounding architectural feats

You don’t need to look for things to do in Mexico City – simply strolling down its streets is made memorable by the city’s mind-blowing architecture as its backdrop. Nothing illustrates Mexico City’s history quite as beautifully as its architectural evolution, and the buildings here are some of the most interesting in the world. The cityscape is a riot of blazing colors, bold facades, and crazy patterning, with architecture ranging from the ancient to the Art Nouveau. Centuries-old buildings like the Catedral Metropolitana and Palacio de Bellas Artes hark back to the city of yesteryear.

Mexican food at its finest

So many things to do in Mexico City revolve around its culinary culture. Mexican cuisine – already mind-blowingly delicious at the humblest street food stalls, carts, taco trucks, and makeshift windows – has been elevated in recent years, with gourmet food halls and upmarket eateries popping up across the city. Authentic Mexican food is some of the most vibrant in the world, and when it comes to sheer flavor, there’s little to separate ambitious restaurants from traditional taquerías. Experience the diverse dining scene and delicious things to do in Mexico City to see for yourself!

Nic showed us everything we asked for and then some. Our expectations have been exceeded. We are spending relatively short amount of time in Mexico City and he showed us some sights of the beaten path in addition to several major attractions. Both my wife and I really enjoyed the experience.

The pre-tour experience of planning what we wanted to do was efficiently and smoothly done, and gave us great confidence that the trip would be very enjoyable - we weren’t disappointed. Once booked and Adriana was allocated to us as our guide, she emailed us to enquire as to the sorts of things we wanted to do, our interests etc. She then compiled a draft itinerary which she sent to us in advance which looked great, and she’d clearly paid attention to what we’d asked to do, and put in the time planning our day. Having swapped mobile numbers we also had a few other WhatsApp messages from her ahead of our tour reconfirming meeting times etc. On the day Adriana was prompt, polite and really informative as she took us around areas of Mexico City which we’d never have discovered on our own (our high level brief was that whilst we would like to see some of the main sights, we wanted to get a feel for the “real” Mexico City its people, history, culture and food). We always felt safe, and learnt so much from her during our tour. We packed loads in, but it never felt rushed or too much. SHe’d incorporated options to eat / drink on the way, as well as toilet stops, and nothing felt like too much trouble for her. This was a perfect way for us to spend our first day in Mexico City, and gave us a brilliant introduction to this vibrant city.
