A Japanese history enthusiast who loves local Japanese food. I was born in outskirts of Tokyo and have lived central Tokyo for more than 10 years. Since I have worked as a private tour guide for few years, exploring hidden places and finding new perspectives of Tokyo became my hobby. Even small statues on the street that tell us the history excite me. Also I used to work in the art industry so I have a numerous recommendations of museums and art galleries!

Yuko completely customized our tour to focus on our area of interest. She gave us great historical insights and cultural ones too. She took us to a very authentic stand up Sake bar and helped us to sample two kinds of Sake. She also provided us with very practical help around other sights to see and how to navigate the very confusing subway, metro, train situation.

Yuko reached out weeks in advance with a suggested itinerary which made me feel confident we would be well taken care of. Ahead of time and during the tour, she engaged with us to modify the plan based on our interests and needs. She brought visuals and stories that brought history to life for us and also gave us a chance to experience today’s pop culture, food, etc. we had a great time hearing about life in Tokyo from her and she was easy and fun to be with. Finally, she followed up with links to great restaurants and entertainment for us to use during our trip- many of which we tried and enjoyed after the tour. Thanks, Yuko!

We had a great time with Yuko on a recent layover tour between HND and NRT. She scoped out several potential luggage storage options and they were quite convenient—we had no issues getting a locker at Kesey Ueno. She was very flexible and crafted a good mix of things to see since I simply wanted to go to Asakusa; she took us there and explained the cultural aspects and style of worship; the fortunes, Buddhist and Shinto custom; we saw the kitchenware's street and I nabbed a wonderful little set of panda bear soy sauce dishes that color in the panda as the sauce fills the dish. She helped us navigate the subway, found a wonderful little snack/cake shop, and took us around Ueno—all in just four hours! We found her to be an excellent guide and a charming companion. He English was flawless. Truly had a great time and would seek out Yuko and city unscripted again on any other trip to Tokyo.

She was very flexible and her English skills are really good! So easy to understand, and took us to some fascinating places, with explanations of what we were seeing.
