Oslo Opera House
The Oslo Opera House presents a breathtaking marble roof on its exterior and 3 different performance spaces on its exterior. The striking modern architecture will certainly make you gaze for a while. If you’re into performing arts, and architecture or just want to see the panoramic views of the Oslo fjords, then the Oslo Opera House is a great spot to go and see.
This venue hosts a wide variety of different performances such as concerts, opera, and ballet. As well as this, public art installations and a restaurant feature within the Opera House and prove popular for tourists and locals.
Munch Museum
You’ve probably heard of ‘The Scream’ artwork, haven’t you? The iconic masterpiece with a ghostly figure standing on a bridge expressing utter terror! The figure’s eyes are wide and the mouth is open silently screaming, indicating a huge sense of anguish. This outstanding art was created by the famous Norweigan artist Edvard Munch. The Munch Museum is filled to the brim with work completed by Munch, including ‘The Scream’, with a picturesque rooftop terrace and bar.
Fun fact…there are 3 different ‘The Scream’ masterpieces! All 3 reside in the Munch Museum, though only 1 is on show at any one time. Throughout the day the different versions of this iconic piece are revealed on rotation. So make sure you stick around for a bit to see them all!!
Barcode Streetfood
My favourite place in Oslo…Barcode Streetfood! I just can’t put into words how incredible the ambiance, energy, atmosphere, and food are here! It is a food spot you cannot miss out on if you find yourself in Oslo! Boasting 14 different, diverse, and international food stalls, you are spoilt for choice on what to eat.
What’s even better is that if you’re visiting as a group, you can eat together whilst ordering from different stalls! So whilst you’re tucking into your tacos, your mate can be getting stuck into their fish ‘n chips, and your other mate devouring the delicious Japanese street food! With food from Greece, Thailand, The Caribbean, Japan, Texas, Mexico, and Hawaii, as well as, vegan and vegetarian options, everyone will certainly be more than happy dining here.
Vigeland Sculpture Park
A spot to explore if you find yourself with free time and need some relaxation is the Vigeland Sculpture Park! This park is the world’s BIGGEST sculpture park and home to Gustav Vigeland’s unique masterpieces. With more than 200 sculptures, brilliant views, and museums, this park should go straight onto your Oslo To Do list. Every sculpture is made out of either bronze, granite, or cast iron and depicts the cycle of human life and its emotions!
Akershus Fortress
Located in the heart of Oslo, Akershus Fortress is the perfect place for history lovers! When you travel somewhere new it’s always great to discover more about its history, culture, and food. Norway is rich in history, it varies from the Viking Age to World War Two, to today, where the country is recognized as having breathtaking fjords and a high standard of living.
